The Challenge: Managing Construction Traffic and Minimising Costs
Our client, a developer for a residential subdivision, needed a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) and Corridor Access Request (CAR) to facilitate construction activities on-site. The road controlling authority required several stringent measures, including detour routes, traffic controllers during all work hours, and restrictions on the time of day when trucks could service the site. These requirements would have added significant costs to the project, so the client turned to TPC to find a more cost-effective solution.
Our Approach: Tailored Temporary Traffic Management Solutions
Using our expertise in traffic engineering, we analysed the site and determined the most efficient and practical Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) solutions to meet the requirements of the project while minimising unnecessary costs. Our approach included:
- Optimising traffic flow: We developed a plan that maintained smooth traffic flow throughout the construction process without the need for detour routes.
- Reducing the need for traffic controllers: Through strategic planning, we ensured the site could operate safely without the need for traffic controllers during all work hours, saving both time and resources.
- Eliminating unnecessary restrictions: We designed the plan to lift the restrictions on when trucks could service the site, ensuring the project could move forward without delays.
By applying traffic management principles and understanding the project’s specific needs, we were able to deliver a solution that maintained safety and efficiency while avoiding the additional costs associated with the original plan.
